Rutland Cookery School Testimonials

Robin is an excellent teacher and so helpful and supportive. The range of soups on the 3 hour course was brilliant, we learned lots of extra kitchen/cookery tips too. Parking is easy and immediately outside the cookery school. Immaculate school, the equipment is all there, the trays of ingredients already prepared so no time is wasted, a recipe book is included for each course to take away with you. The course was inspiring, educational and very good fun. Thank you!

We booked an evening session for 10 people to cook some Mexican food. It was a team building evening and was brilliant. Everyone got stuck in, a range of skills and in the end enjoyed a very tasty meal. Robin was a fantastic host, very accommodating and knowledgeable. Will happily return again for another cuisine.

Spent a great morning at the Rutland Cookery School today learning how to cook fish!! Robin is a fantastic, patient teacher, especially with the faint hearted!! Learned how to pan fry a freshly fillet Mackerel and serve it with smoked Kale, garlic, fresh ginger, chilli and spring onions. Then learned how to poach a smoked haddock fillet and serve it with with a Beurre Monte sauce, leeks and a wonderful wonderfully delicious egg yolk!!!!!
Would highly recommend the cookery school!!!!

Friendly, light-hearted, fun day yesterday at the SE Asia cookery day. Robin made us all feel very welcome and at ease. Could have listened to his tips and chef experience all day. Cooked and ate delicious food during the day and even presented husband with a sampler of my offerings in the evening – he ate the birds eye chilli garnish whole…. Looking forward to making these dishes again soon. Thank you Robin.

We attended the eat well and healthy course – we weren’t sure what to expect but it was an informative and enjoyable day. We cooked lots of lovely food, picked up lots of useful tips e.g. Peeling ginger with a teaspoon, and learned more about how to make healthy food tasty. We’d recommend it and will definitely be returning for other courses. Thanks Robin!

Amazing evening learning how to make fresh pasta, loved it! Have since made my own at home, a very impressed family. Robin is patient and makes you feel as though you can cook anything. Thank you so much for an enjoyable and tasty evening.

Thoroughly enjoyed Middle Eastern cookery today – bit nervous as not really cooked ‘properly’ for years, but Robin took us through everything very patiently and carefully and demo’d before we had a go. The chicken tagine and Eish Es-Saraya especially gorgeous …….

Had a fab day on the Indian street food course yesterday. It was a full experience rather than just a cookery lesson. Robin uses photos and videos from his visit to Mumbai to show where the dishes come from. It was wonderful to create flavours that I recognised but never knew how to make, plus trying ingredients that I’d heard of but hadn’t used before. Great food, great company and all round highly recommended

Such a great day on the Cooking with Fish workshop yesterday, I loved every minute – despite being a whole day course, the time just flew by, and I was sorely disappointed when it was over!

We learned how to prepare two different types of fish (trout and bream) – this included gutting, filleting, deboning and descaling -none of which I have ever done, but all of which I successfully managed under Robins patient,
clear and calm tuition.

We then cooked five dishes (3 of which were with the very fish we had prepared ourselves) using five different cooking methods – poaching, curing, pan frying, baking and steaming.
On top of this, and the many fish related tips and guidance Robin shared, we also learned more about flavour pairings and general everyday cooking and kitchen skills.

It really was a fantastic experience – a really relaxed and comfortable environment to learn in, with a great chef as tutor. Robins passion and enthusiasm and of course knowledge, really is apparent in how he interacts with his guests.

I have been to many cooking schools over the years, and I really am impressed by the work, prep and menus that Robin puts together.
He is very patient and no matter what level of chef you are, you feel at ease immediately.
The other touch I like is that you have your own work station….but share a cooker between you.
Thank you Robin….Top Chef !!

Thanks Robin for a brilliant morning… I feel inspired to try lots of new things now and will be definitely using the recipes from today again. I learned loads in three hours and picked up some really useful tips. The course was well organised, thoughtful and interesting and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to my friends.

Amazing experience, lovely venue, great tuition and a very experienced and knowledgeable chef who was flexible in his approach to ensure we all got the most out of the course.

Loved the teaching, facilities, food and the whole experience. I’ll be back for second helpings and more!
