Rutland Cookery School is a privately run facility set up to provide cookery workshops for individuals.  Our business address and contact details are at the bottom of this page.

Your information

When you purchase a workshop or product via our website, we record your name, address, contact details, product purchased and in the case of workshops, any dietary requirements.

How we use your data

    1. Email:
      If you book on to a workshop with Rutland Cookery School, you consent to be contacted about your booking via the email address provided.
      We will email you at the time of booking with confirmation of your order. We will also email a few days before the workshop as a reminder. We will not use your email address for marketing.
    2. Newsletter:
      When you access the Rutland Cookery School website, you have the option to be added on to our Newsletter which details workshops, events and other Cookery school news. You are free to unsubscribe at any time.
    3. Telephone:
      At the time of booking we request your telephone number.
      We will only call you if we have a query about your booking or need to let you know about any change in circumstances such as tutor illness, extreme weather, or workshop cancellation.
    4. Address:
      This data is used for statistical purposes to analyse where workshop attendees are travelling from.  It is also useful to know where attendees live in order to provide appropriate directions and, in extreme weather conditions, to assess whether the course should go ahead or not.  We do not do anything else with this data.
    5. Dietary Requirements:
      We use this information to provide you with suitable ingredients for your workshop.

Our legal basis for processing your information is to fulfill a contract and legitimate interests.

Information sharing

Under no circumstances will any of your information be shared with anyone outside of Rutland Cookery School. Where we use outside contractors e.g to maintain our website, we will obtain written confirmation to ensure they also abide by GDPR regulations and do not share, or allow anyone else to access, your data.  We use Mailchimp to collect and maintain subscriber details for our newsletter.  Please see Mailchimp’s privacy policy here .


We are committed to ensuring your information is secure.  In  order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure your information.

Your access rights

Under the GDPR you are entitled to know what information we are storing about you and to ask us to modify or delete it. If you would rather we did not keep your information after you have attended your workshop or purchased your product, please email us at info@rutlandcookeryschool.co.uk and your personal information will be removed from our database.  Any non-identifiable information such as workshop title, date and fees paid, will be retained for statistical purposes.   If you would like to see a copy of your data or require your data to be updated, please also contact us using the details below.  Please allow 5 working days for your request to be completed.

For the purpose of GDPR, the data controller is Rutland Cookery School.


A cookie is a very small text file placed on your computer’s hard drive (by the website server) when you visit certain web pages. It is associated with the computer you use, not you personally, and it cannot deliver viruses. Rutland Cookery School’s website uses some cookies. Our website server automatically records information that your browser sends whenever you visit a page on our website, such as your IP address, details of the web browser and operating system that you are using, the date and time of your request, the specific page requested and how you arrived at that page (e,g the search term used to find the page).  This is statistical data about our users’ browsing action and does not identify any individual.  We do not make any attempt to identify who is visiting our website.

Financial security

All Rutland Cookery School forms which request credit card or bank details use the SSL (secure sockets layer) protocol for encryption. Most browsers (including current versions of Microsoft Explorer and Netscape Navigator) support SSL.

Changes to this policy

This privacy policy will change from time to time as we develop the range of services on the website. When this privacy policy changes, we will place an updated version on this page. Regularly reviewing this page ensures that you are always aware of what information we collect and how we use it.
